Chapter 71

I wasn’t sure why Ochako was okay with casual sex and I didn’t ask. I wasn’t an idiot. If she had to explain it to me, there was no chance that it was going to continue, at least not without things being really awkward. So, I kept my mouth shut about it.

After arranging for her employment at the agency, I dropped Ochako off at her apartment and kissed her goodbye. She looked happy and hugged her hero orientation package like it was made of gold.

I flew back home without anything coming up, which was a surprise. I figured I’d hear someone screaming for help or something and I didn’t. It seemed like a calm evening and I didn’t mention it out loud to potentially jinx myself.

Lois was waiting for me, even though she already knew a lot of what happened on our date. Ochako hadn’t shied away from her when they met, even knowing who she was, and thanked her for allowing me to hire her right away instead of waiting for the week off to start her internship. It had been Ochako’s idea, since she had asked me to do the same thing for her that I did for myself, so I did. She could use her powers openly without restriction.

What was the first thing she was going to do? Help her parents, of course. With Ochako able to make things weightless, the construction workers only had to worry about momentum when moving things around. It would speed up construction on their current job by a significant margin and would save them a lot of money on various things as well as getting a bonus for finishing early.

Officially, she was assigned to the block to patrol it during business hours, just in case anyone asked her what she was doing. No one would, though. When people saw someone in costume and doing things, they assumed the hero had a right to be there doing it and wouldn’t interfere, except maybe to get a photo and an autograph.

Lois reminded me about the other heroes showing up for orientation on Monday morning and that I should be there, too. I agreed, because she knew best. It had always bothered her that Clark never listened to any of her suggestions or tried to make things better for our family. All he did was go out and helped others, with barely any thoughts for how he was so busy that he occasionally neglected us.

Thankfully, I did listen to her and knew she would never allow me to end up like that. I was going to be a model hero, whom she joked crossed all the ‘I’s and dotted all the ‘T’s. My career would be built on my ability to bring criminals to justice and also participate in their criminal trials when it was necessary.

With her sleuthing skills and my own abilities to catch them, Lois and I combined were going to clean up quite a lot of villains, both the normal and quirk-powered kind. Why would we limit ourselves to only quirk-related crimes? There were a lot more criminals out there than quirk-powered ones.

We brainstormed that night, with Lois giving me tips on what to say and what to do during orientation, and how I would need my own office with a special side room to set up the OMAC device inside. A few high spec computers, monitors, electronic maps and GPS, and anything else we could come up with to find and capture criminals. Not to mention security.

Lois had that handled, though. She had been smart and had hired a handful of old and retired heroes to do double duty as both security for the building and as additional teachers for those that wanted it or needed it. They had decades of experience on their side and were quite happy to share that with the next generation of heroes.

Plus, getting a huge paycheck for essentially sitting on their butts for a good portion of the day, was quite the incentive. The funny thing was, they were not against us advertising their employment and actually volunteered to help with public relations and fielding questions during public tours. That opened up another avenue of potential and Lois was all over it.

“We should send Melissa Shield an invitation, too.” Lois said as she changed her clothes.

I paused my own stripping to give her a raised eyebrow.

“Similar to Ochako, only for her tech knowledge and not for her quirk, since she didn’t apply to get a license.” Lois clarified and took off her bra.

“Oh, that’s actually a good idea.” I said and pulled off my t-shirt and grabbed my pyjama bottoms. “I’ll send her a text about it tomorrow.”

Lois nodded and watched me pull the bottoms on, then took the top from me before I could put it on. She slipped the fleece shirt on and buttoned two buttons, then climbed into bed. I stared at her wearing only panties and my pyjama top and she gave me a sexy look.

“We’re only sleeping this time. We both have things to do tomorrow.” Lois told me.

“Sure, whatever you say.” I replied and climbed into bed beside her.

Barely five minutes later, I was yelling her name as she swallowed me down like a champion.

Melissa Shield was surprised when she received a text from Connor Kent. It wasn’t about the delivery of that blue mineral he had sent to her a while ago, either. He wanted her to work for the hero agency that hired him for the internship!

She wanted to agree, mostly because she wanted the experience of working for an actual agency, even if it wasn’t as a hero. She hadn’t had any training at all to do hero work and couldn’t have passed the provisional exam if she had tried. The written portion would have been no problem. It was the practical portion she had no clue about.

Unfortunately, All Might had already arranged for her to spend the next two weeks with his own mentor, a very short old man named Gran Turino. He had trained him in the best use of his powers and she looked forward to experiencing what All Might went through… despite his warnings.

Melissa send a reply of regret and that she was already busy for the internship. She felt really bad about rejecting him, especially since he had helped her out so much already. The necklace worked perfectly for regulating the overwhelming power of One for All and she hadn’t suffered any debilitating injuries when using it.

Connor’s response surprised her, though. He wanted to hire her for the week off she had from school, which meant she could do both things. Melissa immediately answered yes and would be there first thing in the morning the next day, on Monday. She also thanked him for the opportunity and he replied that it was the least he could do to help her get a foot in the door for when she actually went for her provisional license.

That had her almost vibrating in place, because she hadn’t thought of it that way. With this week on her resume at an actual hero agency, added on to her personalized training from Gran Turino, and all her previous work on I-Island, her budding hero career was going to have a great start.

When she left her room and excitedly tackled All Might in the living room to tell him all about it, she didn’t notice the sad look on his face. He regretted that he had pretty much ignored his best friend’s son for years and now Conner had done so much for his new protege.

Monday morning arrived and the Supreme Hero Agency was packed full of people. It looked like it had been in operation for years and that was exactly what Lois and Rachel had planned. All of the sidekicks, teachers, and guards were impressed by the facilities and the personal areas set aside for them that they saw during the tour.

Unlike Endeavor’s Agency, Lois wanted their employees to feel like their time there was like a second home and not as a hotel room for them to stay in occasionally. That was the biggest thing she had taken from Conner’s time as an intern, that it was a transitional position and not permanent, which everyone just accepted as normal.

Rachel had spared no expense getting everything up to her standards and everyone they hired appreciated it. In fact, even the janitors loved the Custodial Department of the agency. They had their own secretary that would handle all the paperwork for them and all they had to worry about was doing their jobs.

Supreme himself was there to greet everyone and despite being so young, no one commented on it. The best part about his speech was that they showed his provisional exam on the big screen behind him in the conference room and they all saw how he commanded everyone to be their best and it was the first time everyone had passed the second part of the exam.

Both that view and the speech gave everyone there a boost to their confidence and they all knew that choosing to work there was the best decision each of them had made. One of the previous sidekicks of Endeavor, Green Fury renamed Fire, silently promised herself to put out the word about how professional things were and also how welcoming the staff was.

Of course, she was also one of the mainline heroes that worked there instead of being classed as a sidekick of the hero that owned the agency. Normally, she wouldn’t have a problem with being only a sidekick; but, after learning a few new things to do with her power from Connor, she had surpassed everything she had learned at Endeavor’s Agency under his tutelage.

After raising her rank by three positions, she could no longer consider herself a sidekick. She had become a proper hero in her own right and it was all thanks to Connor and his phenomenal quirk analysis and his insights of how to make her powers flourish and grow in ways she never would have thought to use them.

The meeting broke up and they were given half an hour to make themselves at home and to familiarize themselves with the building and the facilities they had already toured. Fire went to the receptionist’s desk and chose an apartment on the fourth floor. She liked that each had a balcony for people to fly from and they didn’t have to leave through the front door when they went to work.

“He’s pretty enigmatic, isn’t he?” A soft voice said from behind her as she waited for the elevator.

Fire turned slightly and saw a shorter woman with snow-white hair wearing a blue and white skintight uniform that showed off how fit she was. “He wasn’t at first.” She said and held a hand out. “I’m Beatriz, or Bea to my friends. Hero name Fire.”

The white haired woman barked a laugh and shook the offered hand.

“What’s funny?” Fire asked.

“I’m Tora and my hero name is Ice.” Ice said with a smile.

Fire barked a laugh, too. “Fire and Ice met and there wasn’t an explosion!”

“Exactly.” Ice said as the elevator beeped. They both stepped in and the doors closed. Both reached for the fourth floor button and shared a laugh as Fire pushed it.

“Has he helped you refine your skills yet?” Fire asked as the elevator rose.

“I’m scheduled for this afternoon.” Ice answered. “You?”

“I’ve had the pleasure of a first installment before agreeing to work here.” Fire told her. “It was one of the main reasons I agreed to change hero agencies, actually.”

“Me, too.” Ice admitted. “I don’t know how he can analyze me with barely a description of my quirk, though. Is he like super smart or something?”

The elevator came to a stop and the doors opened.

“His mother is Lois Lane and his father was Superman.” Fire answered.

Ice’s eyes widened and then she laughed. “Of course he is.”

“He’s already living up to his pedigree.” Fire said and walked forward and went down the hallway to the last door. “This is me. I need to change into casual clothes for a business meeting.”

“Me, too.” Ice said from almost right beside her.

Fire turned and saw Ice had taken the apartment across from hers, only the doors were offset and they wouldn’t run into each other if they both left at the same time. “Product Marketing or Public Persona consultation?”

“Persona first and then Marketing.” Ice said and unlocked her door. “They said I’d make a great rep for freezers and have a few proposals for me.”

Fire smiled. “Same here for both, only I’m up for an open grilling barbecue.”

Ice smiled back. “We’ve only been here an hour and we’re already getting marketing deals. This is going to be the best job we’ve ever had.”

Fire nodded. “See you in a few minutes.”

Ice nodded back and they entered their apartments. They both changed quickly into normal clothes and neither were surprised that their looks hadn’t changed much. The colors of their casual clothes were almost the same as their hero uniforms, except the styles were more acceptable for business meetings.

The two women continued to chat as they rode the elevator back down to the second floor and the offices there. Instead of having to wait their turn for their appointment, there were several people available for them to talk to about their public personas. It was almost a group meeting as they discussed things with the Public Relations department and both women liked their recommendations to make them more public friendly.

The next meeting they had to split up, since their products and abilities were near polar opposites. That didn’t deter either woman, though. They both felt like they had hit it off and their chance meeting was the start of a great friendship between them. That they both were starting fantastic jobs with massive support structure and as much help and assistance as they wanted, made it into a great start.

Ochako Uraraka’s parents loved that she could help so much and it was all perfectly legal. During the mandatory breaks the workers took, the hero Uravity patrolled the block and kept criminals at bay. Just having her in costume and floating there watching over the construction site, had given all the workers a feeling of safety.

If they had asked Ochako what she thought of her role, she would have gushed uncontrollably about how awesome it was to be able to openly use her quirk without restriction. The constant use also let her strain herself and grow in power, too. She liked pushing herself and making herself better, while also making things better for her parents at the same time.

It was only the first day and she had already stopped a mugging and warned off some kids from tagging the side of a nearby building. With a giddy giggle she barely muffled, Ochako felt like her end of day report to the agency was going to include a few more deterred crimes and arrests.

That made her so happy that she swore to herself that she would put out again during her next date with Connor. She still didn’t feel slutty about doing that, either. He was a great lover and her first time had opened her up to a lot more things than just sex. She had also become more aware of the men giving her sly looks in her skintight costume.

Instead of feeling objectified or embarrassed like she used to about how tight it was, she felt flattered and a little sexy. She knew she looked good in her hero uniform, thanks to Connor’s compliments, and she worked pretty hard to stay in shape. Having others confirm that with the needy looks in their eyes, justified her efforts in her own mind.

Ochako floated down when one of the men waved to her and asked her to lighten one of the steel beams for him. She smiled warmly at him to make his face flush red and she tapped the beam with her hand. He thanked her and easily carried it away. She watched him until the crew secured the beam into place and she released her power.

A fleeting thought in her mind was that she was not going to abuse her new power of sexiness… on anyone but Conner… and maybe Tsu. She needed to loosen up a little and some teasing wouldn’t hurt. Maybe Connor could help her with that and Tsu could come along the next time they went to the arcade? It didn’t hurt to ask, anyway. The worst thing she could say was no.
