As Sylvia and leader face off, I force my body and grab girl and pull her towards me. Luckily, leader did not kick her away so she is still near us. But the situation is still no ideal. Leader is doing smart. He is using us as hostages so that Sylvia cannot move forward. Whenever Sylvia tries to attack him, he simply targets me. So, Sylvia is forced to return and defend me.
“Milady, how about you surrender? We are achieving nothing by prolonging this battle.”
Magic has a set of rules that everyone understands. In this world, you can only cast magic one at a time. Of course, this is not true as already shown by Lyn but no one knows this fact. The only reason that people can only use one magic at a time is because that is the common teaching passed down in the world. In order for them to overcome this restriction, they would first need to overturn their fundamental understanding of magic.
“Why are you in a hurry? We have all the time in the world.”
So, I already know that he lacks the means to defeat us in one go. So, time is on our side is what should be the case but my injuries say otherwise. But leader decides on a different action. He creates an explosion around himself, shaking everything. I look up and prepare myself for any falling debris. Luckily, none of them fall towards me as Sylvia is guarding me once again. Leader quickly looks around.
“You almost got me there. I really didn’t want to use that but you left me no choice. No more tricks, I better end this now before you can do anything else.”
Leader was struggling with his words. It seems that self-explosion took a lot out of him. Seeing has his clothes are not damaged, it would have taken him significantly more magic to protect himself or to direct it outward. My plan failed.
“Time to di-“
Before leader could fire off even more magic, he evades something. I was not able to follow it with my eyesight.
“Shit, I missed.”
Ninja lands in front of us.
“What? How? I made sure to knock you out!”
“You did! But I got hit on the head when the place was shaking.”
Hah! Because of leader’s magic, other parts collapsed. It seems luck is still on our side.
“Now, time to end this. I already know what you can do.”
“Fuck you! I’ll take all of you down with me!”
Sylvia and ninja rushes over to leader. This battle is as good as won. Surprisingly, Sylvia and ninja are working properly together. Sylvia keeps on attacking leader and when leader tries to attack, ninja interrupts him. It does not take long before Sylvia and ninja capture him and now, he is in front of me.
“Now. Tell me everything.”
He smiles at me.
“Fuck you.”
His body glows as he tries to explode in one last explosion. Sylvia moves quickly and grabs his throat and kills him immediately before he could do anything else.
“Stubborn to the end.”
I slump back as it ends. I feel myself losing consciousness. I look up and see ninja looking down at me with a weapon in her hands.
“So, what will you do?”
I lose control and my head drops. My eyes close and the last thing I see is ninja raising her weapon on top of her head. Ah, out of the pan, into the fire.
