Freya POV
“What are you thinking, Freya?”
“I am thinking of how to make her join.”
“That is not what I mean.”
“Don’t worry yourself, Prince. I don’t have any plans yet.”
“I find that hard to believe. It is not everyday that you carry someone without a fight.”
“True. She’s interesting now. That’s probably why.”
“The term you should be using is dangerous.”
“What? You miss her clinging to you like her life depended on it?”
“No. You know that is not what I meant.”
“Fine. What do you plan on doing then?”
“I do not know. I am at a loss on how to approach her now.”
“Sheesh. You sound like a guy trying to confess to a girl you have a crush on.”
“Stop teasing me. I admit that I find her features attractive but I have no romantic feelings for her.”
“Harsh. You’re supposed to be together, you know?”
“I know. Our situation is one of convenience. You should already know that she has no romantic feelings for me as well.”
“You never know. Something might happen.”
“Maybe but the way she is now, there is no way of it happening.”
“Yeah. I wonder where did that little girl go?”
“I am confused as well. The last time I met her was a few years ago. Whatever changed in her must have been during that time.”
“Well, you feeling happy that she ain’t clinging to you anymore?”
“I feel worried if anything. I can feel a fear inside of me. I fear she will be going somewhere far away.”
“Far away? Hmm, maybe.”
“Do you think I should do something?”
“Nah. Let it play out. It’s more interesting that way.”
“Why did I expect a different answer from you?”
Someone knocks on the door.
“President, I have brought her here.”
“Wait. You had another guest?”
“Of course. You don’t need to leave for this one.”
A girl enters the room. The other member closes the door and leaves.
“Welcome to the student council room.”
“Lucina?”
“Prince?”
“You two are already acquainted so let me just introduce myself. I am the Student council president, Freya.”
“No last name?”
“No. I am a commoner.”
“For what it is worth, father did try to make her a honorary noble. One that she has refused to accept.”
“Why would I want to be tied down with that? That’s just a bother.”
“Only you would say no to the King.”
“If he really wanted to force me, he could have tried to fight me. If he did, I would have killed him though.”
“Once again, statements like that count as treason.”
“Sure. Charge me with that. See what happens.”
“As you can see Lucina, she is like this so no need to be careful around her.”
“To be honest, I’m just confused why I’m here.”
“True. If only our prince did not go off topic.”
The prince just sighs.
“Alright, the reason I invited you here is because I want you to join the student council.”
“Me? Why?”
“Because I want to.”
Lucina looks to the prince and the prince nods.
“I’m not really the type to fit to those things.”
“Don’t worry, Lucina. All I am offering is the general affairs position. Your main duty is to keep the peace and capture any violating students. You will have no paperwork to do.”
“Doesn’t that mean anyone can do it? Why me then?”
“Because you are the strongest in your grade.”
“I am?”
“Yes. You are the one who defeated the prince and became the champion of the tournament.”
“That’s all?”
“No. You also found the secret domain in the school event, contributed to the attack on that base even though you were captured and you were a great help in removing those specific nobles.”
“I didn’t do any of those alone. She was-.
She stops for a moment.
“Someone was there as well.”
“Don’t worry about that. This is about you. Do you want to join the student council?”
“I don’t really know.”
“How about you do a trial then?”
“A trial?”
“You can join us on a trial basis and you can decide by the end of the month.”
“I guess I can do that. Do I have to be careful with how I speak?”
“No. Feel free to speak how you like.”
“Okay. I guess I’ll do it.”
“Good! Welcome, Lucina!”
I shake hands with Lucina. I grip her hand tightly.
“Hey. What are you doing?”
“Just a little test of strength.”
“Let go of me, bitch.”
She starts trying to shake me off.
“Good strength. Most would already be giving up.”
“Fuck off. I ain’t like that.”
“Now that’s the language I was looking for. I thought you were fake.”
I let her hand go and she shakes it.
“Is this really how she is?”
“Yes. You will get used to it. I had to.”
“Woah. Why are you talking like that, prince? You hurt my heart.”
“It would be a miracle if my words have any effect on you.”
“I do listen, you know? I just decide to ignore it most of the time.”
“That is more annoying than you know.”
“Can I go now?”
“Ah. Sorry. Since you have accepted even if only temporarily, you can attend our meetings here. The schedule will be provided to you later. Your attendance is optional. If I need anything specific, I will keep in touch.”
Lucina leaves the room.
“Did you notice that, prince?”
“Notice what?”
“She hesitated.”
“Of course she will. You invited her out of nowhere.”
“Right. You are kind of slow, I forgot.”
“What exactly does that mean?”
“Don’t worry about it.”
She hesitated earlier. Two out of three of those incidents involve a certain noble lady. While I know she has been messing around, she might be connected to her as well.
“Ah, I have a bad feeling about this.”
“What’s got you worried, prince?”
“You. That face is never a good sign.”
It seems I would need to investigate deeper into this. What secrets has she have? What activities has she been doing? I smile as wide as I can.
“I’m just curious. That’s all.”
